Pro-Russian Cyber Attack on Italian Bank and Airport Websites

A group of pro-Russian hackers, known as Noname057 (16), recently launched Cyber Attack on about 20 Italian Websites, including those of major Banks and Airports. The targeted websites belonged to Intesa Sanpaolo, Banca Monte dei Paschi, Iccrea Banca, and Milan's Linate and Malpensa airports. The attacks were believed to be in response to comments made by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who compared Russia's invasion of Ukraine to Nazi expansionism before World War II.

Despite the attacks, Italy's Cybersecurity agency confirmed that there were no significant disruptions. The agency also mentioned that this was not the first time Noname057 (16) had targeted Italy, as the group had previously attacked around 10 government websites in December also.
