  • Do Keep It Short: Respect your respondents' time. Focus on the most important questions to keep the Online Surveys short and engaging.

  • Do Provide Clear Instructions: Ensure respondents know how to answer the questions asked in the Online Surveys and what is expected of them.

  • Do Offer Incentives: Consider offering rewards or incentives to encourage participation in the Online Surveys.

  • Do Test the Survey: Pre-test the Online Surveys to identify any issues and make necessary adjustments.

Don'ts:

  • Don't Lead or Bias Respondents: Avoid leading questions that can influence respondents' answers. Keep the questions neutral.

  • Don't Ask Too Many Questions: Overloading Online Survey Customers with too many questions can lead to respondent fatigue and lower response rates.

  • Don't Ignore Privacy Concerns: Ensure that respondents' privacy is protected and that their data is handled securely.

  • Don't Make Assumptions: Avoid assuming that all respondents have the same knowledge or experience. Make the Online Survey inclusive and accessible.

By following these best practices, businesses can create effective surveys that provide valuable insights, helping them make informed decisions and improve customer satisfaction. Online Surveys are a powerful tool for understanding and engaging with customers, ultimately driving business success.

A Tooth Paste Customer Survey:
A Case Study

Once an Indian Toothpaste company created an Offline as well as an Online customer Survey form. They distributed the survey form in the form of leaflets on the city roads to people and asked them to post the survey form back to the company to receive a 200g toothpaste gift voucher, for participating in the Survey.

People were excited at the gift offer and almost everyone responded. The toothpaste company received a resounding success in response to the survey they had created. Almost all the survey forms came back and the Online Survey too had an overwhelming response.

The company analyzed the customer Offline and Online Survey reports and one thing came up that the company found to be very important.

People using their brand of toothpaste were not buying as much toothpaste as a regular customer should be buying. In any given period of time, the customers were buying less toothpaste than their rival toothpaste.

The company did introspect and found that the diameter of the opening of their toothpaste tubes was narrower than that of their rival's toothpaste brand tube opening. So, the rival's toothpaste finished earlier than their toothpaste brand.

The company instantly increased the diameter of their toothpaste tube and their sales skyrocketed.

That is the power of Creating an Online Survey, analyzing the Surveys, drawing information or patterns, and taking informed corrective decisions to increase sales.
