CYBER SECURITY THREAT
Large E-commerce Website Malvertising Campaign Scam: Latest Cybersecurity Threat
A recent malvertising campaign, which is the latest form of Cybersecurity threat, targeting well-known E-commerce website users in the US has been uncovered because most people do not take online security seriously. The hackers pose as Tech Support people from the E-commerce company. These Tech support scammers are using fraudulent Google ads to trick users into visiting bogus websites, where they are told to call for assistance.
These ads often use the E-commerce website's brand name and logo, to make the scam website appear legitimate. However, once the user clicks on the ads, they are redirected to fake websites that prompt them to call a phone number, leading them into the scammer's trap. Don't take Cybersecurity threats lightly. Cybersecurity threats are a big problem today.
The ads were created from multiple advertiser accounts, understandably they had already hacked into some unsuspecting Google AdWords advertiser victims, to set up these Malvertising Scam ads from those victims' accounts. Some of the Malvertising scam accounts were legitimate entities, while others were created from scratch. Cybercriminals, hackers, and scammers use techniques like SEO poisoning to manipulate search engine results and make their fraudulent ads appear prominently.
Victims who call the displayed fake customer care phone numbers are subjected to cybersecurity threats like tech support scams, where hackers and cybercriminals attempt to gain access to the user's computers or phones to steal money. Mostly these scammers succeed in stealing the user's identity, user names, passwords, phone numbers, emails, etc and then they empty all the money in the user's bank
